Legal basis
Quarantine Act Articles 2, 5 and 12-2. Country and area designations can change by quarterly or emergency notice.
Quarantine Management Area
Areas where quarantinable infectious diseases are prevalent or likely to become prevalent and may be introduced into Korea.

SOx EMISSION CONTROL AREA

- Pyeongtaek-Dangjin
All vessels entering and remaining within a Korean SOx Emission Control Area are subject to the regulation from entry until departure. Effective 1 January 2022.
Compliant fuel oil
Fuel oil sulphur content must not exceed 0.10% m/m.

Approved equivalent method
An approved EGCS/Scrubber may be used so that SOx emissions do not exceed 4.3 ppm, corresponding to an SO2/CO2 concentration ratio of 0.6% (v/v) or less.

Engine log records
Record fuel change-over or EGCS operating status in the engine log book and keep the log on board for at least 12 months from fuel delivery.

Fuel change-over procedure
Vessels using separate fuel oils in separate tanks shall carry a written procedure showing how change-over is completed before entering or leaving a Korean SECA.
